Jon Weber

Award-winning creative director, conference speaker, and current community college student, Jon Weber is new to documentary filmmaking but has shaped a career that spans decades and diverse creative landscapes. His journey from a Fine Arts student in the 80s to leading the creative expression for some of the world’s most iconic brands (brand work) is a testament to his passion for visual storytelling. Jon’s recent work for Kaiser Permanente documents the effects of externalities on ordinary people: the social determinants of health, the refugee crisis in Ukraine, and the impact of global warming (filmography).

Jon Weber’s personal films bridge the past and the present, leveraging recontextualized visuals to amplify forgotten stories for contemporary audiences. This philosophy is reflected in his current project, “Schwartzbrot,” a short form documentary that merges archival footage from the 1930s and 40s with 4k and generative AI. The cautionary tale addresses the immigration crisis from multiple historical perspectives and is a call for empathy in an increasingly indifferent world.

From dwindling natural resources to shifting weather patterns and the surge of nationalism, the world is out of balance—displacement and scarcity loom. Jon has deep apprehensions about the future and believes that building human context around these issues is the key to forging equitable solutions that serve the collective good.
